Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and Life Cycle Cost (LCC) evoluation of Rockdrain and standard drainage system - Part of the Rockdrain research project

Projekt:

Fullskaleprov med alternativ dränkonstruktion för bergtunnlar

Sammanfattning:
The economic aspects of new products and processes are always of great interest for new infrastructure investments. The difference in costs between the two drainage systems is obviously of great interest. In this case, it has been important to cover all the costs during the lifetime of the drainage to achieve a complete a picture as possible of the entire economic situation. For that case, a Life Cycle Cost (LCC) methodology has been used.
The environmental performance of different products or processes is today and for the future a very important aspect. The environmental aspects along with economic aspects are often an important decision basis, provided that the technical functions are achieved. Thus, in addition to compare the two drainage system’s technical characteristics, a comparison was also made of primary energy resource uses, primary material resource uses, global warming potential (GWP), acidification potential (AP), eutrophication potential (EP) and photochemical ozone creation potential (POCP) for the two drainage systems. Also the waste formation was analyzed.
